About the Magazine

Celebrate family adventures and conservation with this early summer issue of Tread. Inside are vehicle features about a 2022 Ford Bronco, a 2020 Toyota Tacoma with Alu-Cab Canopy Camper, a Zenvan Sprinter van, and a 2018 Toyota Tundra that all cater to time spent with family because that is what these vehicles were built to do. This issue also resonates the importance of land stewardship with a more in-depth look at Tread Lightly! and the T.R.E.A.D. principles. Keeping to being environmentally conscientious, Bryon Dorr takes us behind the wheel of the Hummer EV to find out if it is off-road capable. As usual, we bring you the latest gear, with a family gear buyer's guide along with the latest wheels, newest camp gear, new auto products, fixed-blade knives, and the new Yamaha side-by-side. Newer to overlanding? Mercedes Lilienthal provides what you need to know for the basic 4x4 upgrades to get you started. Chris Collard shows how to get even better shots out of your camera on the phone. And we take a trip with Rogue Overland through southeast California through the Arizona Desert. Action packed with knowledge and adventure, this issue of Tread will make you want to load up the family and hit the road.

    Perfect
What keeps me coming back to Tread is how they focus on rigs that are actually used out on the trail. It’s not all about show trucks or over-the-top builds. I like reading about people’s actual travel setups and seeing what kind of gear works for them.

    Good
One thing I really enjoyed in the latest issue (Jan/Feb 2025) was the feature on winter camping tips and cold-weather overland gear. As someone who likes to get out even when the temps drop, it felt super relevant. The mix of gear reviews and real-world advice makes it easy to pick up something useful from every issue.
